Opening Day In Cincinnati

The day many around here act like ferris bueller. I remember kids taking the day off school WITH THEIR PARENTS PERMISSION to go to the game, and adults playing hooky to catch the parade and the game itself. Long lunch hours are taken so that the festivities can be enjoyed. Yeah, for so many it becomes a vaction day, a sick day or just a day off for whatever reason, and that happens leaguewide. In all the major league cities, people are taking the time off for the first game of the season. Kinda funny when you figure that their are 81 home games each season, but that one game is so meaningful to many. The rally on the square, the parade, all the goings on downtown and around the ballpark itself. It's not just a tradition anymore, it's an event. Cubbies are in town so expect a nice mix of blue in with the red over the next few days as their are a lot of cubs fans here in cincy (like me) and I'm sure their will be some in town for the first few games. Yes, it's time to come up with whatever excuse you can muster. The cat needs to be reclawed, the babysitter sat on the baby, the cows need shearing and the pigs need milking. The I feel sick and need to go home is always a good one as is I need to take my dog to the dentist and my kids to the vet [img]graemlins/sure.gif[/img] [img]graemlins/wonder.gif[/img]
Whatever it takes to catch some of the game.
